ACAP in Action

ACAP in Action: A Conservation Field Day

Monday, April 20
11 am – 1:30 pm

Cost: Free
About the event

Tour Three Cheers Farm and see how Pennsylvania farmers are putting conservation into action through the Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP). This interactive, in-depth farm tour will showcase a real-world project funded through ACAP, a program administered through the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission. We’ll explore how the program helps farmers expand on-farm conservation efforts while strengthening the long-term resilience of their operations, as well as share how ACAP complements other conservation funding opportunities. You’ll hear from Georgann Kovacovsky of Three Cheers Farm about the application process, project implementation, and their lessons learned. Conservation district staff will also be on-site to share about eligibility, timelines, and technical assistance. Whether you are new to conservation programs or looking to build on existing efforts, this tour offers practical insights into how ACAP can help you invest in your land, protect natural resources, and strengthen your farm for the future. Farmers, landowners, agricultural professionals, and community members are encouraged to attend. Come enjoy a good conservation and locally-sourced meals with farmers, policymakers, and other stakeholders! Bring your questions and be ready to explore! About the Agricultural Conservation Assistance Program (ACAP): ACAP, administered by the Pennsylvania State Conservation Commission in partnership with local conservation districts, provides state-funded cost-share support for practices that improve soil health, protect water quality, and enhance farm sustainability. From streambank stabilization and heavy use area protection to manure management systems and cover cropping, ACAP helps farmers implement projects that deliver both environmental and operational benefits.
