Discover how sharing your farming experiences can help build a better food system, and spend time creating your own advocacy plan!
Agricultural advocacy can take many forms, from writing blog posts to hosting policymakers on farm tours. Farmer stories, in particular, are essential to advocating for local, state, and federal policies that invest in environmental conservation, advance food justice, and confront climate change.
In this virtual training, you’ll learn about the policymaking process and how you can add your voice to critical policy conversations, as well as hear personal accounts of what agricultural advocacy can look like. We’ll spend time in interactive breakout rooms, offering you a chance to create an advocacy plan with the help of facilitators and a planning worksheet.
Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture’s Policy Director, Darrin Youker, and Legislative Director, Stephen Rudman, will join us to discuss the ins and outs of being a good advocate. Pasa’s policy team will also share their experiences in direct advocacy and the importance of storytelling in building a successful campaign for policy change.
Come prepared to share, discuss, and connect with fellow farmers and food system changemakers!
