Solar: A New Era for Sheep Grazing

Thursday, October 16
8:00 am - 12:00 pm

Cost: Free
About the workshop

Here’s your chance to see an agrovoltaic system up close and personal—plus, discover how livestock and solar can work in tandem to enhance the land and your operation!

Do you graze sheep or cattle and are interested in learning the ins and outs of grazing livestock in a solar field? Are you a landowner curious about integrating animals into your current or future solar projects?

Join us at Susquehanna University's Freshwater Research Institute to hear from experienced sheep grazer Caroline Owens about the planning and infrastructure needs of a solar grazing operation and the practical everyday aspects of grazing in a solar array. Doug Neidich will also share the basic criteria for determining ideal solar project locations and discuss incorporating solar arrays with cattle grazing, as well as the possibility of crop production capabilities.

"Solar grazing is the best thing to happen to sheep grazers in a generation!"
—Caroline Owens
