Soil & Crop Fertility Practices

Thursday, October 2
4–6pm
About the workshop

Come out for a twilight tour of Pennypack Farm & Education Center and learn about their multifaceted approach to healthy soil and productive crops.

As beginning and intermediate growers, how do we figure out if an issue is related to fertility, pests, disease, too much or too little water, and more?

During this farm tour, we’ll discuss Pennypack’s use of cover cropping, organic fertilizers, soil testing, and post-plant fertility measures, including organic spray methods and fertigation through drip line. We’ll also discover how to best assess plant health and troubleshoot signs of plant stress and dis-ease.

Bring your questions to learn from these seasoned growers!

About the host

Founded in 2003, Pennypack Farm & Education Center is a 13-acre diversified vegetable farm co-managed by Kirstie and Steph Jones using organic practices to grow for CSA and a food donation program.
