Twilight Pasture Walk

Thursday, July 17
5—8 pm
About this workshop

Interested in learning about Highland cattle and silvopasture systems? Want to explore new ways to diversify your operation? Come out to Pittsburgher Highland Farm to learn how they’ve developed a system that works for them!

After a dinner sourced from the farm, managing partner Mark Smith will lead us on a pasture walk and share hands-on experience with Scottish Highland cattle and rotational grazing. You’ll learn about his innovative approach to developing silvopasture systems that provide natural shade for livestock while hearing about his diversified operation, including sheep, pigs, and poultry.

Mark will also discuss the farm’s growing agritourism ventures, including their on-farm tiny house, as well as share his passion for education and training as essential tools for developing the next generation of farmers. This is your chance to learn from someone who has successfully integrated traditional farming practices with modern sustainability approaches and alternative revenue streams.

You’ll leave with practical insights to begin or enhance your own farm journey. Come ready to walk, learn, and connect with fellow farmers in a relaxed farm setting!
