Spend a day on the pastures of Two Creek Farm to learn all about Holistic Planned Grazing and discover how you can implement these principles on your farm!
Holistic Planned Grazing (HPG) is a simple but powerful planning tool developed by the Savory Institute aimed at helping graziers place livestock in the right spot at the right time, with the right herd behavior. It goes beyond basic rotation by charting forage recovery periods first, then working backwards to map stock movements that meet the needs of cattle, sheep, hogs, chicken, turkeys, wildlife, and soil life all at once. HPG can increase forage production, boost animal performance, enhance soil health, and keep your bottom line in the black.
Brent Habig, owner of Two Creek, will provide an overview of Holistic Planned Grazing and share how he applies these principles on the farm, as well as why he favors it over standard rotational, adaptive, or mob-grazing systems. He’ll discuss decision-making checkpoints that you can borrow to fine-tune your own grazing plan, regardless of the methodologies you adhere to. You’ll leave with a clear list of next steps to refine or launch your own grazing strategy and the confidence that comes from seeing it work on the ground.
This event will include a presentation, lunch sourced directly from Two Creek Farm, pasture walk, and an open discussion. Stock up on questions and come ready to delve into the world of Holistic Planned Grazing!
This event will be hosted in collaboration with the Pennsylvania Grazing Lands Coalition (PAGLC).
